Terms of Use

The Cass County Sheriff's Office aims to establish open communication channels with the public and maintain transparency that encourages citizen interaction. Social media platforms play a vital role in achieving this goal. As a public service to the community, the Cass County Sheriff's Office provides Facebook, X, and LinkedIn pages for easy access to information, hiring notifications, and general communication with the office. The Cass County Sheriff's Office manages these pages as limited public forums and are not monitored 24/7; therefore, the following condition applies.

To report a crime or seek assistance from law enforcement, please dial 9-1-1 immediately. We use our social media pages to provide essential information to the public that we believe is important or newsworthy and, in some cases, necessary to release in the interest of public safety. Therefore, the Cass County Sheriff's Office reserves the right to limit posts from members of the public that directly relate to our postings and comply with our guidelines. Please note that we do not intend to provide an open forum or venue for unlimited comments, videos, or links to be posted by the public. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office makes reasonable efforts to check all posts for accuracy, integrity, and completeness when posted; however, we make no guarantees or warrant posting reliability. Postings are made in "good faith," though circumstances may cause details to change over time as new information develops. Should information from a posting change, become outdated, or deemed inaccurate, we will make reasonable efforts to update it as soon as practicable.

Under no circumstances will information be posted that compromises the safety of the public, Cass County Sheriff's deputies, or members of other law enforcement agencies. To encourage law enforcement/citizen interaction and cooperation, we welcome posting relevant comments to our social media pages. Comments made by users do not necessarily reflect the views of the Cass County Sheriff's Office or its members. They should not be deemed an endorsement by our agency or its members, nor accurate or verified. This also applies to any advertisements or third-party links on our social media pages.

All content on Cass County Sheriff's Office social media pages, including user comments, is considered property of the Cass County Sheriff's Office and is subject to disclosure under Nebraska's Public Records Act. Comments posted on Cass County Sheriff's Office social media pages are not considered private and are available for viewing by anyone accessing said pages. The Cass County Sheriff's Office does not and cannot guarantee your privacy when using social media sites such as Facebook, X, or LinkedIn. Users should familiarize themselves with and abide by the terms and conditions set forth by Facebook, X, or LinkedIn when using those applications.

We may respond to user comments to answer questions or update a posting. Please note that although we aim to reply to every comment, there may be circumstances where we may not be able to respond due to time constraints or other issues. It is important to understand that liking, commenting, or engaging in any other similar exchange between the Cass County Sheriff's Office or its employees and a social media user does not imply an endorsement of that user's actions or comments.
