Corrections Officer

(Civilian Position)

$19.22 - $24.60

The job of a correctional officer is challenging and infused with risk, but also one that can be very rewarding for those who want to be involved in protecting their communities and in rehabilitating prisoners for a successful return to society.

Minimum qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or a GED equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Prefer a stable employment history, military or related criminal justice experience, and coursework at a community college, college, or university. Additionally, we prefer individuals at least 19 years old. Spanish-speaking applicants are encouraged to apply.
  • All applicants are subject to a background investigation and pre-employment drug screenThe investigation may include fingerprint checks (State Police, FBI); local agency checks; employment verification; verification of education (relevant to employment); credit checks; and other checks requested by the hiring authority.
  • Applicants are required to work 12-hour shifts, day/night shifts.

Corrections Officers shall be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment for the inmate's well-being. Candidates for this position must successfully complete the mandatory training requirements for Corrections Officers.
