CORRECTIONS OFFICER
(Civilian Position)
($17.08hr - $20.62hr)
Job Classification - Nature of Work:
(May not include all duties that may be assigned)
The work of a Corrections Officer involves responsibility for the protection of life and property; for the prevention, detection, and investigation of crime; and, for maintaining law and order within the confines of the Cass County Jail.

Specific assignments are received from superior officers and are carried out in accordance with established rules and procedures found in S.O.P.s. General Orders, and Departmental Directives. Performance
standards for the Corrections Officers shall be established and evaluated by their respective divisional supervisor(s). This assignment is first responsible to the Corporal(s) and then to the Sergeant(s). The Corrections Officers shall wear the Sheriff uniform; and shall be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment for the inmates well being and co-employees. Maintain all documentation of visitation, medical treatment, communications, commissary items, accounts, property, of inmates, and maintaining and complying with Nebraska Jail Standards. Performance standards for the officers within the rank of Corrections Officers shall be established and evaluated by their respective Sergeant or Corporal.

DEPUTY SHERIFF - LATERAL HIRE
(Already Certified)
($20.43hr - $28.67hr)
Job Classification - Nature of Work:
(May not include all duties that may be assigned)
The work of a Deputy Sheriff involves responsibility for the protection of life and property; for the prevention, detection,
and investigation of crime; and, for maintaining law and order.

Specific assignments are received from superior officers and are carried out in accordance with established rules and procedures found in S.O.P.s. General Orders, and Departmental Directives. The work involves an element of personal danger and may be performed in either uniform or plain clothes within the jail facility and/or jurisdiction Cass County Nebraska. Performance standards for the Deputies shall be established and evaluated by their respective divisional supervisor(s). Depending on the assignment this position maybe first responsible to the Corporal(s) in all other assignments of this classification is responsible to the Sergeant(s). The deputies also performs duties as directed by the courts and the Sheriff in uniform; and are responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment for the inmates well being and co-employees, all documentation of visitation, medical treatment, communications, commissary items, accounts, property, of inmates, and maintaining and complying with Nebraska Jail Standards. Performance standards for the officers within the rank of Deputy shall be established and evaluated by their respective Sergeant or Corporal.

REGISTERED NURSE

Must be able to work with inmates in a correctional setting. Responsible carrying out the contract medical physicians directives and treatment plan for the medical needs of the inmate population, to include but not limited to treating any illness or injury, give medication and administer first aid, or perform CPR. Read and answer inmate requests and maintain medical file for each inmate. Must have a Nebraska licensed registered nurse (RN) certification. This staff is subject to call and must be within phone contact. The medical services staff is responsible for keeping up all state required continuing education units. Performance standards for the Medical staff shall be established and evaluated by the Jail Lieutenant. Must pass a complete background check including polygraph examination.
