ABOUT US...

The Cass County Sheriff's Office, under the leadership of Sheriff Robert Sorenson, operates from the City-County Law Enforcement Center in Plattsmouth. Built in 2002, this modern facility houses both the Sheriff's Office and the Plattsmouth Police Department, along with a 110-bed jail that provides detention services for the county. Centrally located at 336 Main Street, with jail access at 303 Avenue A, the Law Enforcement Center serves as a hub for public safety operations, ensuring efficient coordination of law enforcement services across Cass County.

The Sheriff's Office is supported by a dedicated team of 82 employees, working together to meet the diverse needs of the community. This includes deputies serving in administration, road patrol, investigations, court services, and specialized roles such as K-9, School Resource Officer, and DARE/Crime Prevention. In addition, the office is staffed with 911 operators, corrections officers, medical personnel, and support staff, all playing vital roles in maintaining public safety. This broad range of expertise allows the Sheriff's Office to respond effectively to emergencies, safeguard the community, and provide critical resources to residents.

Cass County itself is a thriving community of more than 25,000 residents, covering 566 square miles of Nebraska's eastern edge. With its county seat in Plattsmouth, Cass County is uniquely positioned between Omaha and Lincoln, offering both small-town character and close proximity to urban opportunities. From its towns and villages to its rivers and farmland, the county reflects a strong sense of community and resilience values that guide the Sheriff's Office in its commitment to serve and protect.
