Two vehicle injury accident Hwy 1 in Murray

Sheriff William C. Brueggemann advised on 08-21-2020 at 1555 hours Cass County Deputies, along with Murray Fire & Rescue, Plattsmouth EMS and Cass County EMS responded to Main St. and N. Park Ave. in Murray, NE for a two-vehicle injury accident. Investigation determined that a red, 2017 Ford Flex driven by Brian Begemann, 51 of Murray was eastbound on Hwy 1 and entering the construction zone when his vehicle was rear-ended by a white, 1995 Lincoln Mark VIII driven by Tristan Brodersen, 24 of Plattsmouth.

 

Investigation showed that the Brodersen vehicle was also eastbound on Hwy 1 and traveling at a high rate of speed as it entered into the construction zone. Three juvenile children in the Bordersen vehicle were not buckled in the back seat of the vehicle and escaped serious injury. The passenger of the Begemann vehicle, Joyce Begemann, 45 of Murray was transported to UNMC for her injuries. All others involved were treated at the scene and released.

 

At the time of the accident seat belts were being worn in the Begemann vehicle but were not being worn by anyone in the Brodersen vehicle.

 

Brodersen was issued a citation for Following Too Close, Careless Driving and Child Restraint Violation. Due to the severity of the damage to both vehicles, neither vehicle could be driven and had to be towed from the scene by Sharp's Towing of Plattsmouth. Hwy 1 in Murray was shut down and traffic was re-routed during the investigation.
