Two vehicle fatality accident intersection Hwy 63 and Church Rd.

Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann advised that one Monday, July 27, 2020 at 1:13 p.m. Cass County Deputies, along with Greenwood Fire & Rescue, Ashland Fire & Rescue, LifeNet, and Nebraska State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle fatality collision at the intersection of 238th St. (State Hwy. 63) and Church Rd.  17 year old female of Lincoln was westbound on Church Road in a 2013 Land Rover registered to Daniel and Jerri Chrisp of Lincoln, NE. Witnesses reported the Chrisp vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign at Hwy. 63.  Chrisp's vehicle was struck by a southbound 2020 Freightliner being driven by Wayne F. Griess (65, of Martell, NE).  The force of the collision split the Land Rover into two pieces.  A rear seat passenger of the Land Rover, 17 year old female of Davie, FL) was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.  The other Crisp vehicle passenger, 16 year old female of Aventura, FL) sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and was flown by LifeNet to Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.  The driver of the Chrisp vehicle was flown by LifeNet to Bryan LGH West Hospital in Lincoln.  Griess was transported by ground to St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln.  Accident is still under investigation.  Accident reconstruction is being performed by Nebraska State Patrol.  Next of kin has been notified.
