Two Vehicle Rollover Accident

Cass County Sheriff Robert Sorenson reported that on Friday, November 24, 2023, at 4:20 p.m., multiple emergency response units, including Cass County Deputies, Greenwood Fire and Rescue, Murdock Fire, Eagle Rescue, Ashland Rescue, Cass County EMA, and Nebraska State Patrol, rushed to respond to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 63 and Church Road.

The collision involved Sydney Whited (22, of Omaha), who was traveling westbound on Church Road in a 2021 Gray Nissan Rogue. Whited had stopped at the intersection before turning north onto Highway 63 but failed to notice a southbound Silver 2004 Honda Odyssey operated by David Carlson (26, of Omaha).

As a result of the collision, Carlson's vehicle rolled once into the southeast ditch of Highway 63. Whited's vehicle came to a halt in the southwest ditch of Highway 63. Whited and her passenger, Jarod Nichols (24, of Colfax, IA), declined medical treatment. Carlson and his passengers, including Courtney Carlson (26, of Omaha) and their three children ages three, two, and one, were transported to Bergan Mercy in Omaha for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Accident investigation has been completed. Seatbelts and Car seats were in use. Alcohol was not a factor. Whited was issued a citation for Failure to Yield.
