On Thursday November 2, 2023 at 11:35 a.m. Cass County Sheriff, Robert Sorenson advised Cass County Deputies responded to a semi-trailer lost its load in the area of Hwy 75 and Hwy 34 Union corner. Deputies arrived and request assistance from Nehawka Fire Department for traffic control. 

Colin Huskey (24) of Lamar, IA was driving a white 2015 Peterbuilt and pulling a flatbed trailer southbound Hwy 75. As Huskey approached the intersection of Hwy 75 Hwy 34, Union corner he observed a vehicle travelling east on Hwy 34. Huskey thought there was going to be a collision and took evasive actions causing the trailers load shifted and broke the straps.  45,000 LB of 1/8 inches steel sheets dumped onto Hwy 75.  The clean-up process caused Hwy 75 southbound to be closed for 3 ½ hrs. Investigation is complete.
