Three vehicle injury accident Hwy 1 near Elmwood.

Sheriff, Robert Sorenson advised on 10-05-23 at 05:50 a.m. Cass County Deputies, along with Cass County EMA, Elmwood Fire & Rescue and Eagle Rescue responded to Hwy 1 approximately 1 mile south of Elmwood in reference to a three vehicle injury accident.

Investigation determined that a semi, owned by NIM Transportation LLC and driven by Richard Devall, 49 of Norfolk was facing northbound on Hwy and attempting to back off Hwy 1 into a parking lot to make a delivery. A sliver, Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Wessly Bogenreif, 35 of Elmwood was traveling southbound on Hwy 1 and collided with the semi's trailer crossing the travel lane.

A third vehicle, a blue, Ford Escort driven by Murray Petersen, 67 of Elmwood was also southbound on Hw1 and collided with both the semi and Grand Prix.

Both Bogenrief and Petersen were transported by Eagle Rescue and Elmwood Rescue to Bryan LGH West in Lincoln with critical injuries. Devall was not injured and refused medical transport.

Nebraska State Patrol and Carrier Enforcement were called to assist with the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.
