Cass County Sheriff Robert Sorenson advises during the early morning hours of September 9th, 2023, Cass County 911 received a report of a reckless driver traveling southbound on Highway 75. Cass County Sheriff's Deputies and Plattsmouth Police Department officers were responding to the area and discovered a severe collision just north of the intersection of Highway 75 and Highway 66.

Preliminary investigative findings indicate that a red Infinity Q50, driven by 25-year-old Carlos Olivas of Hastings, NE, was traveling southbound on Highway 75 and approaching the Highway 66 intersection. Several vehicles that had been traveling south were stopped on Highway 75 at the intersection and waiting for the traffic light. The waiting vehicles included a white Dodge Durango, driven by 24-year-old Huston Korenoski of Plattsmouth, NE, and a semi-tractor and trailer operated by 30-year-old Brandon Dobbs of Prattville, AL. The Infinity failed to stop and violently rear-ended the Dodge Durango, causing it to become wedged against the semi-tractor trailer.

The force of the impact resulted in catastrophic damage to both the Infinity and the Durango, rendering them inoperable. Olivas and Korenoski were both transported to the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The tractor-trailer involved in the collision was able to be driven away from the accident scene. Dobbs did not sustain any injuries.

Due to the severity of the accident and the need for a thorough investigation, north and southbound Highway 75 traffic was diverted for approximately 2 ½ hours. Charges related to this incident are currently pending as law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances of the collision. The response to this incident involved a cooperative effort from numerous agencies including Plattsmouth PD, Plattsmouth Fire, Plattsmouth EMS, Cass County Emergency Management, and Murray Fire and Rescue.
