Suspects Identified in Multi-State Burglaries

Cass County Sheriff Robert Sorenson is proud to announce:

During the early morning hours of August 16, 2023, five separate burglaries were committed in the central part of Cass County. During the early morning hours between August 22 and August 23, 2023, two burglaries in Otoe County and another burglary in Cass County occurred. The Cass County Sheriff's Office - NE and Otoe County Sheriff's Office worked together and quickly determined the suspects were the same suspects from the previous Cass County burglaries. The Cass County SO had already gathered and shared initial suspect information that asked our community for help, and you responded. Information and observations reported by citizens to the Cass County SO directly led to other investigative leads and the positive identification of the suspects!

Shared information and specific tips from citizens also helped connect the Cass County SO with more than 20 different law enforcement agencies in Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska that were investigating burglaries committed by the same suspects. Investigators from the Cass County SO, Otoe County SO, and Kossuth County IA SO led the investigative efforts that have already led to one arrest and a search warrant. The investigation is still ongoing and at least one more arrest is expected.

This is a prime example of what can be accomplished when citizens, businesses, and law enforcement agencies work together. The cooperation of everyone involved has helped to bring these criminals to justice and make our communities safer. Thank you, and great job, everyone!
