On Tuesday 08/01/2023, Sheriff Sorenson advised there was a 2 vehicle collision at the intersection of HWY 34 and E First St. in Eagle, NE. 

Cass County Deputies arrived on scene just minutes after the crash followed by Eagle Rescue and Cass County EMA. Investigation determined that Geronimo Hernandez, 43 of Elmwood, was Southbound on E First Street in a silver Mazda CX-7 and William Tucke, 37 of Englewood, Colorado, was Westbound on HWY 34 in a white Kenworth semi-truck hauling a trailer. Geronimo was attempting to pull out into the intersection on HWY 34 when he failed to yield to the right of way, causing William to T-bone Geronimo in the driver's side of his vehicle. Geronimo was pronounced deceased on scene by Cass County Deputies. William was un-injured. Nebraska State Patrol was contacted for an accident reconstructionist. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. Next to kin notified.  The crash is still under investigation at this time.
