Pursuit of stolen vehicle leads to two arrested

Cass County Sheriff, Robert Sorenson advised that on Thursday June 29 at 1921 hrs., Cass County Sheriff Deputies conducted a pursuit of a stolen minivan with assistance from Nebraska State Patrol and Otoe County Deputies.  The successful completion of the pursuit and apprehension of two individuals in the minivan ended with a successful tire deflation deployment in Syracuse Nebraska.

A Cass County Deputy attempted a felony stop on a stolen grey Iowa plated Dodge Caravan minivan on Hwy 75 north of Eighth Avenue when the vehicle accelerated heading west on Hwy 66.  Speeds reached 110 mph until the pursuit was called off when entering Louisville to mitigate danger to citizens.  The pursuit resumed when the Dodge Caravan emerged on the west side of Louisville on Hwy 50 heading southbound.  Cass County Deputies pursued the Dodge Caravan south into Otoe county.  Two attempts with spike strips were unsuccessful until a third deployment stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Hwy 2 and Hwy 50 where Cass County Deputies made two arrests. 

The driver of the stolen minivan, Curtis Oakman (29) was arrested for Felony Flight, Willfull Reckless Driving, Obstruction, Resisting Arrest, False Reporting, Possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia, Refusal to Provide Urine Sample and Driving Under the Influence Drugs.   The passenger, Christopher Cue (39)was arrested for Obstruction and an outstanding Lancaster County Warrant.
