On vehicle rollover injury accident Hwy 34 and 334 Street, Elmwood


Cass County Sheriff, Wm. C. Brueggemann advised that on Wednesday May 20, 2020 at 0835 a.m., Cass County Sheriff's deputies along with Elmwood Fire and Rescue and Cass County Medics responded to a one vehicle rollover accident at highway 34 and the intersection of 334th street, Elmwood NE.

A silver 2017 Kia Sorrento driven by William L. Hoppe (77yoa) of Lincoln was traveling east on highway 34 by 334th Street, Elmwood when he driver believed the driver in front of him was turning right so he tried to go around the vehicle in front. The driver of the vehicle in front had turned left causing the Kia Sorrento to take evasive actions to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of him. The Kia Sorrento lost control of his vehicle and went into the northeast ditch of highway 34 and rolling one time where it landed in its roof top in the creek.

Hoppe was transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Lincoln for minor injuries.

Hoppe was wearing his seat belts at the time of the accident; alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.
