Cass County Sheriff Robert Sorenson advised that on Wednesday, June 8, 2023 at 10:10 p.m. Cass County Deputies, along with Elmwood Fire & Rescue responded to one vehicle rollover accident on Fletcher Ave just west of 286th St.

Kristyn Barnes (30, of Alvo) was traveling eastbound on Fletcher Ave with her husband and children in a silver 2018 Dodge Journey, when a dog came onto the roadway. In an attempt to miss the dog, Kristyn ended up in the ditch on the south side of the road before landing in a dry creek with a drop off causing the vehicle to roll on its side. All 5 members were able to self-extract from the vehicle and were transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln Nebraska for minor injuries sustained during the wreck. All occupants in the vehicle were wearing seatbelts and in the appropriate child restraint seats and securely fastened. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
