Sheriff Robert Sorenson advised on 05-26-23 Cass County Deputies along with Murray Fire & Rescue, Cass County EMA and Nebraska State Patrol responded to Hwy 75 in the area of Young Rd. in reference to a two-vehicle injury accident.

At 12:57 p.m. a Cass County Sheriff's Deputy was southbound on Hwy 75 when he notified Cass County Dispatch that "he'd just been involved in a head-on collision on Hwy 75". Investigation determined that a Chevrolet Cruze, driven by a Jaden Spangler 18 YOA of Weeping Water, Ne. was northbound on Hwy 75. The Chevrolet Cruze left the roadway to the right side. The driver attempted to re-enter the roadway causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with the driver's side of the Sheriff's vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest on the west side of Hwy 75.

The Black 2015 Chevrolet Cruze registered to Patrick Spangler of Weeping Water, Ne driven by Jaden Spangler with and a female juvenile passenger were treated at the scene and did not require medical transport. The Cass County Deputy was transported by Murray Rescue to UNMC for what is believed to be minor injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet Cruze was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The Cass County Deputy was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Nebraska State Patrol is handling the official accident investigation.
