Cass County Sheriff, Wm. C. Brueggemann, advised that on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at 9:41 AM, Cass County Sheriff's Deputies, along with Plattsmouth Fire and Rescue, responded to Highway 75 and Chicago Avenue, for a two-vehicle, bodily injury accident.  

David Farris (91, of Plattsmouth) was driving his 2014 Subaru Outback when he  turned Southbound on HWY 75 from Chicago and was struck by Marissa Hanika (40, of Nebraska City) while she was Northbound on HWY 75 in her 2019 Honda HR-V.  Hanika attempted to serve and prevent colliding with Farris, but was unable to prevent the accident form occurring.  Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to damages.  Hanika was transported to a trauma center for possible back and leg injuries.  Farris was found to have minor injuries and refused transport.  Charges are pending.  No alcohol was suspected in the incident.  Investigation is complete.
