10/23/2022

Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann advises that on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at approximately 10:47 a.m., Cass County Deputies along with Nebraska State Patrol Troopers, and Cass County Emergency Management responded to assist a deputy who was in a foot pursuit of a suspect that was in violation of a Protection Order.

Deputies responded to a Beaver Lake address reference Nolan Cherek (19) being seen on the property that he was excluded from per the Protection Order. The initial responding deputy attempted to make contact and was unsuccessful. The deputy returned to the house and found the driveway had been roped off and signs had been placed informing deputies to stay away.

As the responding deputy waited for back up to arrive, he observed Cherek attempt to run away from the house. The deputy pursued Cherek on foot and Cherek was able to elude the deputy by running into trees and heavy brush in the area,

NSP and CCEMA responded with a drone and began canvassing the area. Cherek was located near the Beaver Lake dam and water plant around 13:50 p.m. Nolan was taken into custody without incident.  Cherek was transported to the Cass County jail where he was booked for Protection Order Violation and Obstruction of a police officer.
