Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann announces that in the afternoon of Thursday, August 25, 2022, Cass County Deputies were dispatched to a residence south of Plattsmouth for a possible disturbance.  The 911 caller, a neighbor, a short time later, reported a small fire in the living room and an adult female was laying on the floor. 

Upon arrival, the deputies found the fire to have been extinguished and located the female on the floor with blood around her.  The female was pronounced deceased.  An 18 year old male was located, arrested, and transported to the Cass County jail where he was charged with homicide.  

The name of the female victim will be released after her next of kin is notified.

A Crime Scene Investigation unit was requested and responded to assist in the collection of evidence.

This investigation is still early on and more information will be released as it becomes available.
