Nehawka Accident results in power outage

Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann advised that on Sunday March 27th, 2022 at 2:30 a.m.. Cass County Deputies along with Nehawka Fire and EMS, Cass County Medics, and Nebraska Public Power District responded to a One Vehicle crash at the intersection of South Street and Sherman ave in Nehawka, Nebraska. The investigation found that the driver, Devin J. Rowland (61) and his passenger Robin L. Rowland (55) of Nehawka was traveling East on South Street accelerating quickly and lost control. The vehicle collided with a power pole which snapped in half, blowing a transformer, and knocking power out to the entire town of Nehawka. The vehicle came to rest in entangled with active power lines. All occupants walked away from the scene with only minor injuries. Driver was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to Cass County Corrections. Power was out for an estimated 9 hours.
