Hwy 75 Pursuit concluding south of Nebraska City
Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann advised that on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at approximately 01:10 a.m. a Cass County Deputy was in the area of Hwy. 75 and Church Rd. and observed southbound black 2011 Cadillac SRX crossover speeding baring no license plate or visible in-transit decals. The deputy attempted to pull the speeding vehicle over. The vehicle fled at speeds exceeding 100 mph at times on southbound Hwy. 75. The pursuit continued into Otoe County. Nebraska State Patrol was able to deploy tire deflation devices on Hwy. 75 north of Nebraska City. The pursuit then continued onto westbound Hwy. 2 west of Nebraska City before finally stopping. The driver was identified as Elexus M. Bennette (22, of Omaha) and was taken into custody. Marijuana was also located inside the vehicle. Bennette was charged with speeding (21-35 over the limit), Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest (felony), Obstructing a Peace Officer, and Possession of Marijuana Less Than 1 oz (2nd Offense). Bennette also had outstanding warrants in Douglas and Lancaster Counties. The passengers, I'Yuana L. Hollins (22, of Omaha) and Gai C. Gatluak (21, of Omaha) were eventually released. No damage was reported to any cruisers.
