Spike Strips deployed in vehicle pursuit into Lancaster County

Sheriff William C. Brueggemann advised on March 1, 2022 at approximately 12:48 p.m.  Cass County Sheriff Deputy was dispatched to the antique mall along Hwy 63 and I-80. It was reported that a female was acting erratic, changing her clothes in the parking lot and believed to be under the influence. It was also reported the female was driving a black, Jeep Rubicon with no license plates.

A Deputy arrived a short time later and was attempting to make contact with the female driver when female drove away. The Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver continued driving. The female driver stopped on Hwy 63, and turned West Bound on I-80 at MM 420. The Deputy advised that he'd be in pursuit of the vehicle. The vehicle continued West Bound on I-80 at speeds between 60-70 mph. Nebraska State Patrol deployed spike strips on I-80 at MM 411.

The female driver, identified as Kayla C. Trofholz, 46 of Papillion Ne. was taken into custody.   A drug recognition expert with Lincoln Police Department was contacted to assist with an investigation into impairment of the Trofholz. It was determined that Trofholz was under the influence of drugs and transported to Cass County Corrections. Trofholz was booked in for Obstruction of a Peace Officer, Flight to Avoid Arrest and Driving Under the Influence of Drugs.  Trofholz also had an Arrest Warrant from Otoe County for Drug Violations.
