Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann advised that on Monday December 20, 2021 at 5:22 p.m., Cass County Sheriff's Deputies along with Weeping Water, Manley, Avoca fire and rescue, Cass County Medics and Nehawka Rescue responded to Highway 34 and just east of 96th Street, near Weeping Water for a one vehicle accident.

A Silver 2013 Chevy Sonic driven by a juvenile (16) was traveling east on Highway 34 just east of 96th Street, Weeping Water when the driver hit a cow that was in the road.

The driver of the vehicle was flown by medical helicopter to Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha for her injuries and the female passenger identified as her sister also a juvenile (16) was transported by Nehawka rescue to Bergan Mercy for her injuries.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident. Accident investigation is complete.
