24 year old from Arlington, Texas arrested for Possession of Firearm

Sheriff William C. Brueggemann advised on 11-22-21 at pproximately 1110 hours Cass County Deputy received a radio broadcast about a white, Chevrolet Tahoe with Texas license plates traveling southbound on Hwy 75 from Hwy 1. It was reported that the vehicle was speeding and drving erratic.

 

A Cass County Deputy was in the area and located the vehicle on Hwy 75 near Union. The vehicle performed and immediate u-turn and began traveling back northbound on Hwy 75 and then pulled to the side of the road. The Deputy pulled beind the vehicle to conduct a welfare check of the occupants. The driver of the vehicle exited and walked back to the Deputy and made contact. During the course of the conversation the Deputy smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and a baggie containing marijuana and a stolen, 9mm handgun were located beside the driver's seat.

 

The driver, Jorge Nicolas Berardi Castillo, 24 of Arlington, TX was arrested and charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Marijuana less than 1 ounce and No operators License. The female passenger of the vehicle was interviewed and released. The vehicle was impounded.
