Protective Custody Taser deployment South Bend

09/23/2021

Sheriff William C. Brueggemann advised that on Wednesday 9-22-21 at 8:02 p.m.  deputies responded to Nevada St. in South Bend on a report of a woman throwing objects at her neighbor's vehicles and causing a verbal disturbance. Deputies made contact with Buckley, Kristi 48 YOA in the street. Buckley was shouting that she wanted to die and told deputies to shoot her several times while holding a large hunting knife to her throat. Deputies were able to successfully deploy a Taser which incapacitated Buckley long enough for deputies to restrain her.

Louisville Fire and Rescue were called to the scene and transported Buckley to Bergan Mercy Hospital for treatment and evaluation.

Buckley caused damage to a vehicle parked across the street and had thrown several liquor bottles, but no one was seriously injured during the incident.
