Cass County Sheriff, William C. Brueggemann advised on 08-08-21 at approximately 08:00 a.m. Cass County Deputies, along with Plattsmouth Police, Plattsmouth Fire & Rescue and Cass County EMA responded to a structure fire at 457 Rim Ridge Rd. in the Chasemore subdivision. Plattsmouth Fire requested mutual aid from Murray Fire, Nehawka Fire, Louisville Fire and Offutt Fire for a working structure fire.

Upon arrival smoke was observed coming from the eves and roof of the residence. Deputies and Officers were unable to make entry into the residence due to the heat and smoke.

Upon entry by Plattsmouth Fire a body was located and recovered from the main floor of the residence. Lifesaving measures were attempted however were unsuccessful. The body was identified as Karen J. Sidener, 52 of Plattsmouth, NE.

Investigation into the cause of the fire is being conducted by the Nebraska State Fire Marshal's Office and is ongoing.

Sidener was transported to Douglas County Hospital pending an autopsy.

Next of kin notified.
