Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann advised that on 12-24-20 at 1758 hours Murray Fire and Rescue and Cass County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a single vehicle accident on Highway 75 near McKelvie Road.

A silver 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix was found to have skidded off of the roadway into the ditch on the west side of the road and striking a tree with the rear bumper before coming to a rest. The driver, Aumen, Matthew (8-14-92), stated that he was driving northbound to Omaha to meet family for Christmas when he attempted to pass a semi. Aumen stated that he did not think that he was going to be able safely get past so he applied the brakes to get back behind the semi causing the brakes to lock up and sending the vehicle skidding into the ditch. Neither Aumen nor his dog sustained any injuries in the crash. Aumen's brother was able to pick Aumen up and get him home for Christmas.
