Reckless Driver - Motorbike

04/13/2024

Sheriff Robert Sorenson reported that at approximately 6:30 pm on Saturday, April 13, 2024, an off-duty officer from the Cass County Sheriff's Office observed a blue sport motorbike recklessly weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed on Highway 75 from near Highway and heading towards Plattsmouth. A deputy patrolling the area encountered the suspect motorbike near the intersection of Horning Rd. and clocked it with radar at 96 mph in a 60 mph zone. The deputy activated their emergency lights as the motorbike continued towards Plattsmouth. A pursuit ensued as the motorbike fled northbound on Chicago Ave at high speed, eventually leading through the downtown area and then out of town on Livingston Rd towards the Plattsmouth Toll Bridge.

The Mills County, IA Sheriff's Office had been notified, but the driver lost control of the motorbike immediately after leaving the Plattsmouth city limits and before reaching Iowa. The motorbike veered off the roadway and collided with a tree. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Plattsmouth resident Anthony Warner, sustained several injuries and was transported to University Hospital.

It was discovered that Warner's driving privileges had already been revoked in Nebraska prior to the incident. While no charges were filed at the time, they are currently expected pending further investigation and analysis of evidence gathered at the scene and the hospital.
